Before Applying to Fraternitas Exemplar, please make sure you have read through all of the Welcome to Fraternitas Exemplar boards. Also, read the following. If you have read these boards, you have read the following before, but it is placed here as well, as a reminder.
Good luck on your application to FE!
Values of Fraternitas Exemplar
These values are the ideals on which Fraternitas Exemplar was founded and what continues to guide the progress and growth of Fraternitas Exemplar.
- No words, actions or implications come before or in the place of respect for the individual.
- There is no deed, status or title that grants exemption of the values of the guild or the accountability to the guild.
- Each member represents the guild in all actions and inactions while in game or on the website.
- Regardless of hardship or angst, remember why you began playing video games to begin with.
- Give due respect and consideration to the ideals and values of the Founders and of the guild.
- Always be true to yourself and others about all things concerning the guild and the games the guild plays.
- Commitment to this guild must be equal to the desire and enjoyment of gaming.
- Own up to your responsibilities and learn from all others that do.
- Be a champion for the rights and freedoms of your guild and its members.
- Embrace patience, as best you can, in and outside of the games you play.
- Live and play with honor.
Applying
Any friend, in game or in real life, of a member of Fraternitas Exemplar can, if so desired, apply for membership with FE. It is a simple process that is used to alert all members of potential new applicants. To apply, an applicant should simply create a post stating:
1. The name of any toon that the potential applicant wishes tagged, in game, with the FE guild name.
2. The level and profession of each toon listed.
3. The name of any current members of Fraternitas Exemplar that the potential applicant knows.
4. The reason for wishing membership within Fraternitas Exemplar.
The members of FE will discuss anyone applying in this manner and if agreed upon will guild the applicant in game and on the boards. If it is agreed to reject the applicantion then a polite Private Message will be sent explaining the rejection.
Applicant Cap
Each applicant is a potential member of Fraternitas Exemplar. As such, each applicant must be treated with respect. Each member of FE is charged with the responsibility to get to know each of the applicants and, likewise, each applicant is charged with the responsibility to get to know each member of FE. Due to the values and strictures of FE, the number of applicants that FE can have at any one time has been limited. As the guild grows, so too, can the maximum number of applicants. This self imposed limitation is to ensure that each applicant is brought into the guild without being lost in a tide of newcomers.
If there are already a maximum number of applicants when a new application is submitted, a Private Message shall be issued alerting the potential applicant of an estimated time until application is possible. Only under special circumstances will someone be applicanted above the normal Applicant Cap.
Joining
Joining Fraternitas Exemplar should not be a process for the common person. Firstly any applicant that wishes to join FE should already be familiar with at least one of the current members of FE. When an applicant applies to FE, via the website, the member(s) who are knowledgeable with the applicant will have a chance to step forward and state their appraisal of the applicant. A Founder will review the application, post it to the guild and, in game, invite the applicant to the guild. Founders and members of FE must take the initiative to get to know the applicant, just as applicant must take the initiative to get to know current members. Measures will be taken to allow each member a chance to give an opinion, either for or against each new applicant. After each member has gotten to know, in some way, the applicant and made known their opinions of the applicant, a vote will be taken. The vote of the Founders will make a full third of the tallied vote, both votes “For” and “Against”. Upon entering the guild, newly promoted members will be given an opportunity to see what comments were made about them, although who posted which comment will be excluded. This is to promote honesty and complete communication between all members. If an applicant is rejected for guild membership, a detailed email will be sent explaining the rejection and any potential for re-application. The application will simply ask how the applicant became aware of FE, why the applicant is interested in joining FE and which member(s) of FE, if any, the applicant current knows and how. If an applicant does not have a rapport with any member of FE, the question that must be posed is what attracts the applicant to FE. It should be suggested that the applicant seek out a single member of the guild to pose questions to before making the commitment of membership to FE. An applicant will expect to have a two week period, as a minimum, where the members of the guild will review the application before a vote will be held. If more than eighty percent of the guild membership has reportedly taken the time to meet and converse with the applicant, within the two week, a guild vote will occur immediately. The time an applicant can wait for a vote can be extended past two weeks if there has not been sufficient member feedback within the original two week time frame.
This is just an example of how to apply to Fraternitas Exemplar. It is here for quick reference of what we ask for in our applications. I will use a few of my own toons for this example.
I'd like to apply for membership with FE.
my toons on Deathwing are:
Oldironblood - lvl 8 dwarf warrior, no professions
Clockworks - lvl 19 gnome mage, enchanting (59) and herbalism (110)
I am friends with Mochashakes irl and Galian ig, they both can vouch for me (i hope).
I want to join FE cuz this just an example and Cmoo is soooo ubar! he rox my sox! oh, and silbob's a nub!
That's really all we are looking for in an application, although, we are a bit more selective on the reasoning than the nonsense I typed in above.
Good luck on your application!
