Since I am nearing my 60 mark, and would like to start raiding ASAP, I was wondering if anyone with a raiding lock has anything to say about what exactly our job is in raids, I know i am DPS, but it seems that when in raid groups roles tend to be very set and I would not like to be seen as noobish in a raid.

DOTS... WE NEED MORE DOTS!!!!!!
Well kinda. I am not a 60 lock so I can't tell you a whole lot but I know its down to dps, banishes, flat out dots. oh and summons.
Jabra, Flounder (slippy), and Mocha will be able to tell you more. the main thing is to listen to your raid leader and listen to your class leader for that raid. Every mob, pull, instance can and will be different so be ready to improvise.

You job in raids depends on a few things. DoT's are allways important. What curse u run to help the run I.E CoE for mages and locks, CoS Locks and Priests. If more then 1 lock ask what the curses they run and do the other if possible. SS allways up when it goes off re apply. Now the pet. This is totaly up to u unless they ask for the imp buff. If u are a demo spec and u sacrifice for self buffs that is up to you. If u have any questions about the calss ask me IG and I will give you my opinions on the class. I have ran all talent builds but my current spec is 5/0/46.

yes... most often then not a locks job in raid is DPS and DOT. On occasion AoE is something a lock needs to assist with. And lets not forget the true Value of Locks... HearthStones and Soulstones. It is very good if a raid can have locks with the variant degree of Healthstone talents... cause it is indeed possible to hold 1200HS, 1320HS, and 1440HS all at the same time. Mainly only a concern for warriors though, and ussually only for those fights that will last longer then a couple minutes. Also its good to be handy with the Curses of Recklessness to prevent runners. That pretty much tends to be the call of a lock in a raid... but the key is to do alot of dps... but not build more threat then the main tank... and sometimes offtank.
