we have several lvl 60 paladins in this guild. more than any other class. as such we end up running a lot of 2 and 3 man paladin groups.
We need to figure out what each person hopes to get out of their paladin and strive for that.
there is no reason we should let ourselves be relegated to back row or "the extra spot" when we could work to become efficient in whatever it is we wish to accomplish.
what do each of you want out of your paladin? to heal to tank to dps to pvp to off-whatever to ... ?
im curious. let me know. and please add the difficulties you are having in realizing this task.

I see what you're getting at, but I'm going to be a bad example. I've ended up liking the paladin class the most because of it's versatility (not sure if my druid will surpass this, probably not), so I'm actually wanting to fill whatever roll I need to, so I have been collecting all kinds of gear: -Deathbone and some +def gear for tanking -Deathbone and some mp/5 gear to test healing endurance -+healing set for healing, also to eventually test or mix and match with mp/5 gear -Spell crit gear to mix and match for the chance at free heals -Spell resist gear, as we all need, especially fire -everyday set, consisting of soulforge plus various fillers, edged towards doing damage, but also to keep me with a decent amount of crit, health, and mana My main problem, being a hybrid, is there's a lot of stuff I'd like to roll on, but would hate to take from a primary class, like the draconian deflector to warriors, or caster items to casters. I'm slowly getting over that though edit: Let me add, that to pick the one role I want to specialize in the most, that would be dps. I seem to do well on damage in our groups so far, and I enjoy doing it. But if a group ever needs a healer, I like healing on my Paladin better than my priest since Paladins have more versatility and can take some hits. And for tanking, I like using my paladin as well, but I will admit I don' t have to tank much and a warrior is definitely more reliable to tank with.

Well I like to do a lil of everything as well and is one of the reasons I made a pally. I like to off heal and be able to do dps from time to time. I am not good at holding aggro I have tried to tank but I just can't do it and dps is not that great either so If I had to choose one thing it would be healing.
Like I siad I would love to dps from time to time but I just suck at it ... my strong points are definetely at healing and if I was to work at any of them it would be that and maybe a little PVP.

Hey Caesar buddy, Strohmner here...been a while. You remember me best as Kasblade the rogue on Deathwing. Just returned to the game and I am starting fresh, and out of the gate I am making my first toon a pally. Been a LONG time since I played one but I figured it may be easiest to lvl. With my toon I am looking to be able to solo well enough to lvl efficiently and also fill various roles in the group, but mainly support. I prefer a support role because in some situations I may not be as good a player as others in the main role.
As Kasblade I was one of the only two premier raid rogues who was on alot, and I was always up front when a rogue was needed.
Now, in all honesty, I noticed that you said we have many paladins. Is there a class in which FE is completely lacking right now that no one is even working on? I am happy to consider going a different path as I actually enjoy playing any of the classes. I have played druid, rogue, pally and mage...so there is still alot with the other classes I have never even sampled.
Any feedback is welcomed. As for the topic above, if I keep pally I guess I want good level healing ability and to be able to do decent melee damage as well for solo purposes, but end game to be an accomplished second row man, either as light primary or moderate secondary healer as half tank to assist main if healing is covered already.
Hope that helps...

I remember you as Kas and your return as Strohm. Heard you were back. pretty fricking cool man.
Play whatever you feel like brother. if you want to solo as a paladin, go Retribution.
FE doesn "need" anything in particular.
and welcome back

Yeh, I really wanted a dwarf this time, so I figured pally might be good, I like healing and buffing a bit. I enjoy the diversity of swinging weapons and using some magic. Was gonna play a druid, but I really want to avoid another frickin NE.
So, Retribution?....any thoughts on a talent path?
Any insights would be cool...and yeh, I returned as Strohmner because that was my original name and account. Wish I could transfer my rogue, but the names on the accounts are different.
