Joining
Joining Fraternitas Exemplar should not be a process for the common person. Firstly any applicant that wishes to join FE should already be familiar with at least one of the current members of FE. When an applicant applies to FE, via the website, the member(s) who are knowledgeable with the applicant will have a chance to step forward and state their appraisal of the applicant. A Founder will review the application, post it to the guild and, in game, invite the applicant to the guild. Founders and members of FE must take the initiative to get to know the applicant, just as applicant must take the initiative to get to know current members. Measures will be taken to allow each member a chance to give an opinion, either for or against each new applicant. After each member has gotten to know, in some way, the applicant and made known their opinions of the applicant, a vote will be taken. The vote of the Founders will make a full third of the tallied vote, both votes “For” and “Against”. Upon entering the guild, newly promoted members will be given an opportunity to see what comments were made about them, although who posted which comment will be excluded. This is to promote honesty and complete communication between all members. If an applicant is rejected for guild membership, a detailed email will be sent explaining the rejection and any potential for re-application. The application will simply ask how the applicant became aware of FE, why the applicant is interested in joining FE and which member(s) of FE, if any, the applicant current knows and how. If an applicant does not have a rapport with any member of FE, the question that must be posed is what attracts the applicant to FE. It should be suggested that the applicant seek out a single member of the guild to pose questions to before making the commitment of membership to FE. An applicant will expect to have a two week period, as a minimum, where the members of the guild will review the application before a vote will be held. If more than eighty percent of the guild membership has reportedly taken the time to meet and converse with the applicant, within the two week, a guild vote will occur immediately. The time an applicant can wait for a vote can be extended past two weeks if there has not been sufficient member feedback within the original two week time frame.
Revoking Membership
One of the most serious and extreme duties of the Founders is the removal of any member from the Fraternitas Exemplar guild. Only the most blatant and severe disregards for the values of the guild will cause an immediate and unwavering removal of member status. Consistent and vagrant disregard for the values and simplistic guidelines of the guild will be addressed with the offending member by the Founders, immediately. Solid examples of disregard for the values will be presented to the violating member for questioning and rebuttal. Once it has been made absolutely certain that the member in violation refuses to forego the specific activity or activities that are causing the offense and that the member refuses to attempt to correct the grievance(s), measures must be taken. If no plausible arguments can be made in defense of the member, the member in violation will be asked if they truly have a desire to remain in FE in light of extreme difference in values. If the member would like to bow out of the guild, under such circumstances, it should be allowed before having to resort to forcing the member to leave. If the member wishes to leave the matter in the guild’s hands, then a vote will be taken of the entire guild, where each member will be able to review the evidence and charges against the member in violation. The vote of the Founders will make a full third of the tallied vote, both votes “For” and “Against”. The result of vote will help to determine the future of the member within FE.
